No.	Procedure
1	From the Sculptor's Idol (Poison Pool), move across the swamp using your Grappling Hook
2	Exit the cave and go into a wide area to encounter a Guardian Ape(*)
3	Defeat the Guardian Ape(*)
4	Commune with the Sculptor's Idol (Guardian Ape's Burrow) after the fight
5	Use your Grappling Hook to go through the cliffs
6	In one of the ledges, you'll find a Sculptor's Idol (Hidden Forest)

(*)This Guardian Ape appears when you have defeated the one in the Sunken Valley.

1~2. Poison Pool To Guardian Ape - Tips

From the Poison Pool Sculptor's Idol, just move straight ahead using your Grappling Hook. From where you fought Snake Eyes Shirahagi, go through the cave to encounter the Guardian Ape.

The Guardian Ape Appears After Defeating One In Sunken Valley

This Guardian Ape will only appear in the Ashina Depths if you have already defeated the one in the Sunken Valley. It is a powerful foe that has 3 HP gauges, so be prepared.

4~5. Great Ape Burrow To Hidden Forest - Tips

Watch Video Below How To Get To Hidden Forest

From the Great Ape Burrow Sculptor's Idol, use your Grappling Hook to head up onto the cliffs. Go through the cave and you'll encounter two ghost enemies. Defeat them and grapple to the other cliff to reach the Hidden Forest Sculptor's Idol.

Aim to hit from behind
Keep your distance

1st Phase Guardian Ape Boss Fight - Tips

Four Sword Swipes

The Guardian Ape will swipe his sword 4 times. Move to the right to avoid the last sword swipe then dash towards the Guardian Ape to do an attack.

Perilous Attack - Roar

Immediately keep your distance when the Guardian Ape does his perilous roar attack. Move left to right to avoid this attack and if you move behind it, you can hit back with a single strike.

Jump Forward Attack

The Guardian Ape will jump forward towards you and swing its sword. Dodge to the left to avoid this move and you can attack it from here. If there's short distance between you, dodge to the left and you can do multiple swings at it.

Perilous Attack - Wide Sword Sweep

You cannot block or deflect this attack and there is little opening to counter. If you use jump to dodge this move, you can close in and do a counter-attack but since timing is essential, there's no need to force it.

5 Sword Swipes + Downward Swipe

You'll know the Guardian Ape is doing this move when it turns back after the 2nd sword swipe. After the 5 sword swipes, you can do a charged thrust to cancel out its downward swipe.

Perilous Attack - Jump + Downward Swipe

The Guardian Ape will do a massive jump and do a Perilous Attack right after. Avoid by jumping or keep your distance then attack from behind. You can cancel out its downward swipe by quickly doing a charged thrust.

2 Continuous Swipes

You can tell if this is the Guardian Ape's move when it doesn't turn back after the 2nd swipe. Since there is no safe attack opening with this move, it's best to wait for another attack.

2nd Phase Guardian Ape Boss Fight - Tips Summary

Defeat Small Boss Apes first
Use Prosthetic Tool to defeat Small Boss Apes

In the 2nd phase of the fight, you'll have to fight 2 Small Boss Apes. You can easily defeat them by using your Prosthetic Tools such as the Firecracker and the Flame Vent.

2nd Phase Guardian Ape Boss Fight - Tips

Use Prosthetic Tool Firecracker To Stun Small Boss Apes

You can use the Firecracker Prosthetic Tool to stun these foes, allowing you to put in a few powerful hits. You can also use them to deal Deathblows to the enemies.

Use Oil Then Flame Vent To Set Apes On Fire

You can also throw oil at the Small Boss Apes then set them on fire using your Flame Vent Prosthetic Tool. This is another good method to defeat them easily.
