Complete Side Quests
The most readily available method for farming Compasses of Promise is by completing Side Quests. Note that you can only complete each side quest once, and that they're typically locked behind story progression.
But even then, side quests do not expire, and you do not need to wait or spend Keys to complete them.
Obtain from Events
In-game events sometimes include Compasses of Promise among their rewards. Actively participate in available events for abundant amounts of Compasses.
Obtain from Fate Exchange
From the Shop, navigate to the Fate Exchange tab to trade various currencies for Compasses. While we wouldn't recommend it, you can even opt to trade 160 Starlight Crystals per Compass from the Fate Exchange.

Purchase Paid Packs
You can purchase Compasses of Promise from paid packs in the shop. In the Garden of Records
tab, we especially recommend the packs from Lena's Starter Support, which are a great value for money when you're looking to spend for gacha pulls.
Should You Save Compasses of Promise?
Use As You Please
The Compass of Promise is used as currency for pulling from the Permanent
gachas. Since you cannot use them for limited characters or artifacts, there's no reason to save them.
Use on Promised Crest / Eternal Promise
First, exhaust both the New Expedition and New Friends gachas. Afterwards, we recommend using your Compasses of Promise on the Promised Crest for an Artifact that matches your preferred 5-star character/s before spending on the Eternal Promise gacha.
How to Use Compass of Promise
Used for the New Expedition Gacha
Compasses of Promise are consumed when pulling from the New Expedition gacha. The New Expedition gacha is exhausted after 2 10-pulls, but you are guaranteed to receive one random 5-star Permanent Character.
Used for the New Friends Gacha
The Compass of Promise is also for the New Friends gacha, which is available only after completing New Expedition. New Friends ends after 5 10-pulls, and you are guaranteed to receive a selected 5-star Permanent Character.

Also Used in Permanent Gacha
The Compass of Promise is also used in Permanent Gacha (Eternal Promise / Promised Crest). Once you've finished pulling New Friends, it's recommended to use Promised Crest to target the best Artifacts for your 5-star Permanent Characters.

Unusable on Other Gachas
Compasses of Promise cannot be used to pull for Limited Characters or Artifacts. Pulling on limited-time gachas require either Compasses of Destiny or Compasses of Memory.
