What is Spark Farming?
Preparation to Raise Umamusume

When raising an Umamusume, always prepare two Legacy Umamusume. This article calls the process of repeatedly running Careers to prepare Legacy Umamusume ”Spark Farming".
![]() | For clarity, this article refers to Legacy Umamusume as 'parents' and the parents of those Umamusume as 'grandparents'. In the image above, T.M. Opera O and Rice Shower are the parent Sparks, and their parents are the grandparent Sparks. |
---|
Farm Patiently and Repeatedly

Since the chance of getting a 3☆ Spark is very low, obtaining excellent Sparks in only one or two runs is rare. Therefore, it's necessary to diligently farm Sparks every day.
![]() | You can only rent Sparks from Friends 10 times a day, or 15 times during an event, so it's a good idea to farm Sparks at least as many times as you can rent. |

How to Farm Sparks and Tips
First, Decide Which Sparks to Aim For

Sparks boost the Aptitude and Status of the inherited Umamusume. First, consider what kind of strategy/distance Umamusume you want for specific purposes.
![]() | Pink Sparks tied to Aptitude are randomly chosen from Aptitudes rated A or higher. Before farming Sparks, confirm if that Umamusume can aim for your desired Pink Spark. |
---|
Start with Grandparent Spark Farming

Excellent grandparent Sparks are essential to making strong parent Sparks. Instead of starting with parents, prepare the grandparents first.
![]() | If the parent Spark has various White Sparks, the child is more likely to get those White Sparks. |
---|
Race in G1 Races for Compatibility

For Spark Farming, the G1 Races you won are as important as Stats and Skills. If parent and grandparent Sparks have the same G1 wins, an Affinity bonus applies, so aim to win G1 Races while farming.
![]() | G1 Races at different times (e.g., Arima Kinen in the Classic and Senior years) are treated as the same Race, so it's not a problem if you enter them at different times. Also, winning both will only count as one win, so be careful not to enter the same races. |

Same Races for Parent and Grandparent
For better Affinity, ensure parents and grandparents win the same G1 Races. For example, an Umamusume targeting the Classic Triple Crown will have very different goals from one aiming for the Triple Tiara, so once you have a solid roster, pay close attention to Goal Races during Careers.
Enter Dirt Races When Possible
If you incorporate an Umamusume with poor affinity with your Career Umamusume into the Sparks, you can earn more G1 bonuses by racing in Dirt Races. However, in that case, you must start by farming for a Dirt Spark, which requires a tremendous amount of effort.
Aim for 600+ in Desired Stats

3☆ Blue Sparks, which are essential for improving Status, have only been confirmed with a Status of 600 or more, so aim for at least 600 in the Status for the Blue Spark you want.
![]() | For example, in the image above, it's possible to get a 3☆ Blue Spark for Speed/Stamina/Power/Wits, but be aware that you cannot get a 3☆ Blue Spark for Guts. |
---|
Advanced Players Should Aim for a High Rating

The higher the Rating at the end of the Career, the more likely you are to get good Sparks. Advanced players who can cover all G1 Races while securing Status and Skills should also pay attention to the Rating at the end of the Career.
![]() | If you increase the target Status from 600 to 1100 or more, you are more likely to get a good Blue Spark, so be especially mindful of the target Status. |
---|
Aim for Aptitude Boosting Pink Sparks

Once you're comfortable, aim for pink Sparks that boost Aptitude based on your goals. For example, inheriting multiple Dirt Sparks to an Umamusume with a G in Dirt can help you win races that are usually challenging.
![]() | Pink Sparks can increase Aptitude in four stages at ☆1, ☆4, ☆7, and ☆10. If you want to win Dirt Races with an Umamusume who has a G rating in Dirt, prepare a Legacy Umamusume with many ☆ in their Dirt Spark. |
---|
Aim for 3☆ Pink Sparks as Much as Possible
The higher the number of stars on a Spark, the greater its inheritance chance. For raising Aptitude during Inspiration Events, a 3☆ Pink Spark is especially valuable, so aim to farm and obtain one whenever possible.
![]() | For Team Trials or Champions Meeting, aim for Umamusume with Aptitude of at least A. For those with F or G Aptitude needing a boost during early April Inspiration Events, the star count on Pink Sparks is crucial. |
---|
Advanced Players Prioritize White Sparks

Advanced players farming for better Sparks should focus on White Sparks from Skills or Races. Race Sparks are randomly selected from G1 wins, and Skill Sparks come from acquired Skills, so keep this in mind during your Career.
![]() | When Spark farming, getting the same Skill as a parent’s Skill Spark increases the chance of inheriting that White Spark. Once you have a solid Spark collection, choose parents carefully. |
---|
New Sparks That Raise Aptitude Are Good

Among the new White Sparks added in the 4th anniversary update are some that can raise Track/Distance/Style Aptitude, which could previously only be raised by Red Sparks. There are also Sparks that grant valuable Green Skills, so be sure to check them out.
6+ Red Stars Give 'Gene of X' Sparks
'Gene of Long Distance' or 'Gene of Turf' Sparks will be drawn if the total ☆ of Red Sparks inherited by the Umamusume in Career is 6 or more. With 12 or more ☆, it's guaranteed to become a Gene Spark, so keep this in mind once you're used to Spark farming.
![]() | This is useful not only in regular Careers, but also for raising the Aptitude of Umamusume who normally can't run on Dirt, so it's very important if you're aiming for the top ranks in Race events. |
---|
'Awakening of X' is Likely Race-Dependent
'Spring Awakening' or 'Right-handed Awakening' can become Sparks even without acquiring 'Spring Runner ◯' or 'Right-handed ◯', so it's highly likely they are drawn based on the Races won during the Career. If you're aiming for a specific Awakening Spark, pay attention to your Race rotation during the Career.

Avoid Trainee Umamusume as Grandparents
If the same Umamusume as the Trainee Umamusume is a grandparent, the affinity value for that part becomes 0, making it difficult to inherit Skills and Status. If you are farming Sparks for a Race event, decide which Umamusume to Race with before you start Spark farming.
![]() | Even if they have different outfits, Umamusume with the same name as the Trainee Umamusume have a affinity value of 0. Unless you have a specific reason, such as inheriting a powerful Unique Skill from a same-named Umamusume in a different outfit, avoid using same-named Umamusume as grandparents. |
---|
Mile/Medium/Long Distance Aptitude is Important
An affinity bonus occurs if the parent and direct grandparents / the two parents have won the same G1 Race. The higher the affinity value, the higher the inheritance probability, so Umamusume who can Race in various G1s are recommended.
![]() | The affinity bonus only applies to G1 Races, so there is no need to do a high number of Races. |
---|
Choose a Suitable Parent

The required inherited Unique Skills vary greatly depending on the purpose, such as for Champions Meeting or Team Trials. Basically, you want to raise parents with an Umamusume suited for that purpose.
Versatile Unique Skills Are Best for Grandparents

By choosing grandparents with Unique Skills that work well across various strategies and distances, you can reuse their Sparks more effectively, reducing the effort needed for Spark farming.
