Late Start and Rushed Causes
Late Start and Rushed Effects

A Late Start refers to an Uma Musume reacting slower than others at the beginning of a race, causing her to fall behind early. Meanwhile, being Rushed describes a state where she becomes overly excited and runs faster than necessary, leading to excessive Stamina consumption.
Both Affect the Outcome of Races
Both a Late Start and being Rushed negatively affect race outcomes. For Front Runners, who aim to take the lead early on, a Late Start can significantly reduce their chances of winning.
Late Start Occurs Despite of Status
Based on verification results, Late Starts appear to occur randomly and are not influenced by the Status. In testing conducted by GameWith, it was confirmed to occur in approximately about 20% of races.
Can Be Mitigated With Focus and Concentration
Skills like Focus and Concentration improve consistency at the start of the race by reducing the likelihood of a Late Start when they activate. While stats has no effect on the occurrence of Late Starts, it is still possible to prevent them through skills.

Low Wit Stat Causes Rushed Debuff
According to the in-game help section, Uma Musume with higher Wisdom are less likely to become Rushed during races. Wisdom directly affects the chance of getting Rushed. Higher Wisdom stats result in a lower occurrence rate.
Late Start and Rushed Countermeasures
Use Skills to Counter Late Start

There are Skills that can reduce the Late Start rate and duration. However, be aware that they have no effect if the Skill does not activate. Remember that the activation rate of Skills depends on Wit.

Increase Wit to Counter Being Rushed

The cause of being Rushed is Wit, so counter it by increasing Wit. However, it has been confirmed that being Rushed can occur even with a Wit of 1000 or more, so it is difficult to reduce the occurrence rate to zero.
It's Also Important to Increase Stamina
Since it's difficult to reduce the chance of being Rushed to zero, it's also important to increase Stamina as a countermeasure for when it does occur. For races that require a lot of Stamina, such as Long Distance races, make sure to raise Stamina high enough so it won’t become a problem if being Rushed happens.
Late Start and Rushed Probability
Race Outcome Overview Based on Wit
For this test, we prepared individuals with a Wit difference of up to ±10 and conducted 50 trials for every 100 Wit.
Wit | Late Start | Rushed |
---|---|---|
203 | 22% (11 times) | 24% (12 times) |
296 | 20% (10 times) | 20% (10 times) |
401 | 18% (9 times) | 18% (9 times) |
497 | 22% (11 times) | 16% (8 times) |
607 | 20% (10 times) | 16% (8 times) |
706 | 22% (11 times) | 12% (6 times) |
803 | 22% (11 times) | 12% (6 times) |
908 | 20% (10 times) | 12% (6 times) |
1,001 | 18% (9 times) | 10% (5 times) |
1,109 | 20% (10 times) | 10% (5 times) |
1,200 | 20% (10 times) | 8% (4 times) |
The verification results showed that the higher the Wisdom, the lower the rate of being Rushed. Even with 1,200 Wisdom, being Rushed still occurred about 8% of the time, so it’s important to note that it cannot be completely prevented, even at the maximum stat.
Late Start Rate with Focus and Concentration
Verifying the Late Start rate when the Focus and Concentration skills activate.
Skill | Number of Late Start |
---|---|
Focus | 6 times/50 times (12%) |
Concentration | 0 times/50 times (0%) |
We can see that when Focus activates, the Late Start rate decreases to some extent. Furthermore, when Concentration activated, no Late Start occurred in this test.
![]() | Keep in mind that this probability applies only when the skill activates. Even if you’ve acquired Focus or Concentration, if the skill doesn’t activate, the chance of a Late Start remains the same as normal. |
