Blackout Heroes Are Purely Cosmetic
Blackout mode in Black Ops 4 has a collection of heroes that players can unlock. Those heroes are essentially "skins" that players can equip and show off. This means that skins are truly cosmetic and they do not posses any special abilities.

Start Only With Default Skin
At the beginning, you don't have any skin other than the default skin. Every new character in Blackout has a set of challenges that players must complete in order to unlock the skin.
Multiplayer Mode Heroes
In Multiplayer, heroes are called Specialists. These Specialists have special weapons and equipment that give them a slight edge in battle. You will be choosing a specialist before every match, which determines the special equipment you get!

Specialists Are Unlocked From The Beginning
Most of the specialists listed here do not need to be unlocked. They are ready to use the first time you play! The exception here is Zero who will need to be unlocked at Tier 1 in the Black Market.
