There are in total, 3 ways of unlocking / adding new character to your roster in SSBU. By completing either one of these condition will unlock these Fighter to be used in Smash Mode and Classic Mode.

Powerful, but Long Winding Up Tilt Attack

The start of this attack strongly launches foes straight upward. It leaves you quite open if you miss, but a clean hit can really turn things around.

Knuckle Meteor with Down Air Attack

After Mega Man's first flies a little way from his body, it has a meteor effect. To send foes flying down, you'll want to leave a little distance.

Mega Man's Heat Release System

If you use a move where both of Mega Man's arms turn into Busters, his arms will overheat and Mega Man will release heat from his arms after the move is complete.

Mega Man fires the Black Hole Bomb forward and draw in opponents. Anyone pulled in faces several generations of Mega Man, as well as Proto Man and Bass, who all fire their Busters in unison.

Summons his faithful dog, Rush, to propel him to new heights.

Fires Wood Man's leaves, which can be used to protect himself if the button is held.
