How to Defeat the Great Colored Carp

No.Procedure
1From the Palace Grounds Sculptor's Idol, head inside the house with the Mist Nobles
2Head out to the back exit where the tree trunks are
3Turn to the left, opposite of the multiple trunks, and grapple to the tree trunk to the side of the mountain
4Jump down to the roof below the branch
5Grapple to the next roof to your left
6Turn to the edge of the roof facing the lake. Drop down to the area below
7Jump down the platforms to get to the Feeding Ground's Sculptors Idol
8OPTIONAL: Ring the bell and feed the Great Colored Carp Precious Bait
9Head to either Pot Noble Harunaga in Hirata Estate or Pot Noble Koremori in Fountainhead Palace
10Spend 7 Carp Scales at any of the Pot Nobles to be able to unlock the option to talk to them
11Keep talking to them until they give you the Truly Precious Bait
12Go back to the Feeding Grounds
13Ring the bell and feed the Truly Precious Bait to the Great Colored Carp
14Travel to the Guardian Ape's Watering Hole in the Sunken Valley
15Take the Great White Whisker in front the dead Great Colored Carp's mouth

8. Feed the Great Colored Carp Precious Bait - Tips

Feeding the Great Colored Carp will Reward You with Scales

Feeding the Great Colored Carp will Reward You with Scales

Feed at least 3 Precious Bait to the Great Colored Carp and you will be rewarded with 4 Treasure Carp Scales. After feeding the Great Colored Carp, talk to the Caretaker to get the Scales.

9. Keep Talking Until You're Given the Truly Precious Bait - Tips

Each Pot Noble has Their Own Truly Precious Bait

Each Pot Noble has Their Own Truly Precious Bait

If you choose to spend 7 scales on both Pot Nobles and talk to them, they'll each give you Truly Precious Bait. The Baits function the same way, but whoever's bait you choose to feed the Great Colored Carp will survive and the other will die.

Other Pot Nobles will Permanently Die

Other Pot Noble will Permanently Die

The Pot Noble whose Truly Precious Bait you didn't feed to the Great Colored Carp will perish. You won't be able to talk to them anymore, but their inventory will be added to the turned Pot Noble's.

On the other hand, the Pot Noble whose bait you chose to feed will then become a carp. You'll find them in the body of water near their pots and you can still buy items from them for Treasure Carp Scales.

15. Take the Great White Whisker - Tips

Give the Great White Whisker to the Caretaker

Give the Great White Whisker to the Caretaker

Once you've gotten the Great White Whisker, you can choose to go back to the Feeding Grounds and give it to the Caretaker. This will free the Caretaker from his duty as his master has died.

Giving the Great White Whisker will Kill Caretaker & his Daughters

After giving the Great White Whisker to the Caretaker, the next time you travel back to the Feeding Ground you will find him dead. His daughter will be beside him and after talking to her, she will die as well.
