What Are Interactive Environment Elements?
In-Game Features Players Can Interact With In Every Stage
The interactive elements in Risk of Rain include things you can find in every stage. These are on-ground items and such as chests, terminals & printers, drones, shrines, altars, and more.
Requires Money Or Have Special Effects
These features usually require money to activate such as chests and shops, printers usually require sacrificing some items from your inventory, while shrines take your health or your money.
Chests & Barrels
Common Chest
Common chests are easily found in every stage. They usually contain white or common item but can drop both rare and legendary items.

Large chests cost more money to open but mostly drop green or rare items. They can also spawn legendary drops.
Legendary Chest
Legendary chests cost an exorbitant amount of money but drop red or legendary items each time you open one. It's suggested to open legendary chests when you've already unlocked a lot of red items.
Hidden Cache
A small rusted box that can be hard to spot. Requires a "Rusted Key" to open - it will drop an item with random rarity. You only need 1 Rusted Key to open any number of Hidden Caches.
Timed Security Chest
The Timed Security Chest is a special chest found in Rallypoint Delta. To open it, you need to get to this stage within the first 10 minutes of your playthrough. Achieving this will complete the challenge [REDACTED].

Money barrels are small blue capsules you'll find randomly scattered across every stage. Open them up for free to get a limited amount of coin.
Equipment Barrel
Equipment barrels cost money to open and you'll receive a random piece of equipment every time you open one up.
Drones
Gunner Drone
Gunner Drones are the least expensive out of all drones in Risk of Rain 2. Repairing one gives you a drone that shoots down opponents with bullets.
Healing Drone
Healing Drones heal you when your health bar is lessened. It's highly recommended to repair all Healing Drones you encounter in the field.
Missile Drone
Repairing Missile Drones cost more money than Gunner or Healing Drones. They send out a barrage of missiles to damage your enemies.
Gunner Turret
Gunner Turrets are stationary drones that shoot enemies within their vicinity. Being stationary, they are prone to damage and have a limited shooting range.
TC-280 Prototype
The TC-280 Prototype is an extremely large drone that costs a lot of money to repair. However, it has a longer life span than other drones and can easily melt tankier opponents with its firepower.
Strike Drone
The Strike Drone is a special drone that can only be spawned when using the equipment "The Back-up".
Shrines & Altars
Shrine of Chance
The Shrine of Chance provides a random chance of getting an item when you spend money on it. When you fail to get an item by the 3rd try, you'll complete the challenge "Is It Bugged?".

The Shrine of Combat summons random batch of powerful enemies. This is a great way to earn money at the beginning of the easy stages but can be tough in the more difficult modes.
Shrine of Blood
When you activate the Shrine of Blood, you'll exchange the indicated percentage of your health for gold.
Shrine of Woods
The Shrine of Woods will create a small healing circle around it in exchange for money. When you activate the shrine 3 times, you'll complete the challenge "One with the Woods".
Shrine of the Mountain
You'll face more Teleporter bosses when you activate the Shrine of the Mountain but you'll also receive double the reward when you defeat them.
Shrine of Order
The Shrine of Order will reroll all your items for the cost of 1 Lunar Coin. This poses a very high-risk, high-rewards situation so proceed with caution before proceeding.
Newt Altar
Newt Altars will require 1 Lunar Coin to activate. Activating a Newt Altar will open a portal to the Hidden Realm: Bazaar Between Time where you can spend Lunar Coins to unlock Artificer or purchase Lunar Items.

The Lunar Orb requires a payment of 1 Lunar Coin and it will spawn a random Lunar Item for you. This is much cheaper than purchasing items in the Bazaar as they cost minimum of 2 Lunar Coins per item.
Altar Of Gold
Requires a lot of money to open a portal to the Gilded Realm where a special secret boss is located. Defeating the boss will reward a completed challenge & unlock a boss item.
Terminals & Printers
Multishop Terminal
Multishop Terminals can be found throughout every stage in Risk of Rain 2. In exchange for money, you can choose between 3 available items showcased in the shop.
3D Printer
3D Printers exchange 1 random item from your inventory and replace it with the item showcased on top of the printer.
Mili-Tech Printer
A very rare printer that can print Legendary items in exchange for 1 random item in your inventory.
Terminals & Printers
Unlock Artificer Survivor
If you haven't unlocked the Artificer, you'll find the Survivor locked behind a rock cell. Using 10 Lunar Coins to set them free will complete the challenge "Pause.".

In the Bazaar Between Time, you'll find a table where you can purchase Lunar Items in exchange for Lunar Coin in varying prices.

In the Bazaar, you'll find 2 pots that will take items from you inventory in exchange for a rare (green) or legendary (red) item. You cannot choose the items taken from your inventory.

Jump Pads & Water Geysers
Jump pads and water geysers propel you to higher heights and platforms. Jump pads cost money to activate while water geysers are free to use.
Radio Scanner
Broken radio scanners can be found in every stage. Repairing one will cost money but will provide you with an environment log.
