Season 2.5 Updates
Season 2.5 Launch - May 30, 2025
Marvel Rivals is set to launch its Season 2.5 update on May 30, 2025 at 7:00 AM PDT, along with a host of exciting new content, a new character - Ultron, a new Krakoan map - Arrako, and new skins for Hawkeye, Groot, and Ultron.
New Character: Ultron
NetEase finally pulled the trigger on what might be Marvel Rivals' most anticipated character announcement yet. Ultron is officially joining the roster on May 25th. The reveal trailer dropped earlier this week and honestly, it couldn't have come at a better time. Anyone who's been grinding ranked matches lately knows the meta has gotten pretty stale. We're seeing the same dive compositions over and over, with mobile damage dealers rushing backlines while defensive players struggle to find effective counters. Ultron's kit looks like it might actually address some of these issues. He's a flying healer with a more than decent damage output that may actually prove to be a real counter to flankers.
Breaking Down Ultron's Ability Kit
The gameplay footage gives us a pretty good look at what Ultron brings to the table, even though NetEase is still holding back some specifics. His primary fire shoots concentrated energy beams that look more precise than Iron Man's repulsors but with similar range capabilities. He has an AoE (Area of Effect) ultimate ability which means he can limit enemy movement by zoning chokepoints and alleyways. In short, Ultron plays like Iron Man, but with the added bonus of healing abilities, which in my opinion makes him a better hero and a more versatile character.
New Map: Arrako
Season 2.5 brings players to Arakko, a new Convoy mode map meant to be the other side of the Krakoa where the Gala took place. Once a lush, living island and sister to Krakoa, Arakko has now been transformed into a mechanized stronghold by Ultron, who has seized Cerebro and established his base there.

Combat Chests Are Coming to Marvel Rivals
What You Need to Know:
Marvel Rivals is about to make things a whole lot sweeter. Starting May 30, the all-new Combat Chest will go live as part of the Season 2.5 update. The Combat Chest functions in a similar way as a mini-battle pass that rewards you for just playing the game. You complete matches, earn points, and unlock skins and cosmetics as you level up. There's a FREE track for everyone and a PREMIUM track for those who want to earn limited-time, exclusive rewards.
Galacta's Gift Event and Costume Coins
Galacta's Event starts from May 15, 2025 and you can earn various in-game items by simply playing Quick Match, Competitive or Practice vs. AI. Participants can unlock Nameplates, Sprays, Chrono Shield Cards, and Costume Coins which you can exchange to redeem debut skins for any of the 33 heroes featured in Marvel Rivals' Season 0.

Alongside the new map reveal for Season 2.5, Marvel Rivals also introduces the Cerebro Database II event running from May 30, to June 27, 2025. Just like the previous Cerebro event, you have to complete a series of missions to earn the exclusive Hawkeye Binary Arrow skin.
New Skins and Cosmetics
Season 2.5 Launch Skins
Marvel Rivals has announced two skins for Groot and Ultron set to be available on May 30, 2025, as part of the Season 2.5 update. The Ygroot skin transforms Groot into a representation of Yggdrasil, the mythical world tree from Norse mythology while Ultron gets an X-Tron skin as he successfully gained Cerebro following the game's storyline in the Hellfire Gala.
Premium Collection: Immortal Series
If you've been wanting for a reason to revisit your costume collection for Adam Warlock or Scarlet Witch, this might be it.
Adam Warlock's new look, Immortal Avatar, wraps him in flowing gold and earth tone robes that make him look like a mystic space prophet while Scarlet Witch's new skin is a regal twist on her usual chaotic side. The Immortal Sovereign gives her an elegant crimson cloak with gold trims that leans hard into royalty.
