The easiest Vanguards to play are Captain America, Doctor Strange, and Venom. Each of these Vanguards can easily defend against enemy attacks, or have a lot of HP, which makes it harder for enemies to effectively punish you for positioning aggressively.
Beginner Duelists | |

Namor | Scarlet Witch |
Squirrel Girl | The Punisher |
The easiest Duelists to play are Namor, Scarlet Witch, Squirrel Girl, and The Punisher. These Heroes have access to attacks that require little-to-no aiming, and have simple gameplay mechanics that can be quickly picked-up by any player!
Beginner Strategists | |
---|---|
Jeff the Land Shark | Luna Snow |
Mantis | Rocket Raccoon |
The most beginner-friendly Strategists to learn are Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon. While Strategists can be some of the hardest heroes to learn, each of the above listed Strategists offer simple gameplay with an abundance of heals and relatively safe positioning.
Vanguards
Captain America
Captain America is a melee Vanguard that deals decent damage while also being relatively tanky thanks to his Living Legend ability.
When playing Captain America, be mindful of the direction in which you block, since the ricochet effect of Living Legend can even reflect some of the opposing enemy Ultimates when timed right.
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange is a great beginner Vanguard because of his Shield of the Seraphim ability. This ability spawns a very large barrier that Doctor Strange can use to defend the allies standing behind him.
Furthermore, Doctor Strange's Pentagram of Farallah and his Eye of Agamotto Ultimate allow Doctor Strange to function as a Strategist hybrid, allowing allies to reposition and also deal consistent damage against enemies under his Ultimate effect.
Venom
Venom is a very straightforward Vanguard that is most effectively played when he is surrounded by enemies.
Symbiotic Resilience combined with Cellular Corrosion allow Venom to stay up close and personal, granting him survivability as well as pretty good damage.
Just remember to pop Symbiotic Resilience as late as possible, and practice the use of Venom Swing for the best Venom outplays.
Duelists
Namor
While designated as a Duelist, Namor plays almost like a Bruiser since he's got pretty good HP and a get-out-of-jail ability in Blessing of the Deep.
Just be mindful of where you place Aquatic Dominion, and try to land your Wrath of the Seven Seas attacks to slowly push enemies away from the objectives.
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch's Chaos Control Normal Attack does not require any aiming. Simply point in the enemy's general direction and hold the fire button to deal consistent and reliable damage.
Additionally, Scarlet Witch's Reality Erasure Ultimate can decimate entire enemy teams with its large AoE if you can manage to flank the enemy before casting it.
Squirrel Girl
Squirrel Girl's Burst Acorn normal attack functions a lot like a Rocket or Grenade Launcher, meaning you only have to aim it in the general area of opponents and it will deal damage to all opposing targets in an AoE.
She also has a short stun in Squirrel Blockade, almost completely negating the aiming requirement of the Hero.
Punisher
Punisher excels at holding corners thanks to his Culling Turret ability. When in doubt, plant the turret behind a corner near the objective and use it to punish opponents who push forward.
Furthermore, Punisher also has the Final Judgement Ultimate, which allows him to pivot to an offensive role thanks to his virtually unmatched firepower during the activation of this ability.
Strategists
Jeff the Land Shark
Jeff the Land Shark has a hitscan heal with his Joyful Splash Normal Attack. As long as you're firing the jet of water at an ally, you can guarantee they'll survive or last significantly longer.
Also, Jeff's Ulitmiate It's Jeff! affects players in a very large AoE, and can be used to 1-shot entire enemy teams if you can regurgitate them all out of the play area.
Just remember to release allies immediately if you happen to catch them in your ultimate, since you don't want to be throwing friendly players out of bounds.
Luna Snow
Luna Snow has access to an abundance of heals, as all of her abilities grant some form of health regeneration.
Also, it is worth noting that Luna's abilities automatically adjust their effects to enemies or allies, meaning players can absentmindedly fire off their skills at enemies to deal damage, or at allies to provide healing.
Mantis
There are only 3 things to remember when playing as Mantis. Do you want to heal, buff allies, or buff yourself?
If you want to heal, use Q or Right Click.
If you want to buff allies, press E, and if you want to buff yourself, press F.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket has access to a number of different deployabe devices that grant varying positive effects to allies. Essentially, his gameplay revolves around a set and forget
playstyle, deploying devices before immediately focusing on the next target.
The most important things to remember when playing Rocket is to deploy B.R.B. somewhere safe, so that the resurrected ally isn't immediately showered with enemy bullets.
Another thing to note is that Rocket is a very mobile Strategist, so use his Jetpack Dash and Wild Crawl to position yourself in the best possible areas, where you can use suppressive fire on the enemies while also providing buffs to allies.
