Nightmare for Shield Heroes

If there's one type of hero that Vanguards with shield abilities despise the most, it's melee heroes. Shields cannot block melee attacks, rendering their defensive capabilities ineffective and leaving the entire team more exposed and vulnerable.

Cannot be Displaced

The Thing can't be hooked, launched up, or knocked back so Winter Soldier, Spiderman and Wolverine is ineffective against this hero.

How to Play The Thing

Protect Allies With Embattled Leap

Embattled Leap (E) is an ability which allows The Thing to leap towards an ally target and applies a 30% damage reduction effect to himself and a target ally for 3s. Use this ability to protect healers against would be flankers. 3 seconds may not seem like a long time, skilled divers can eliminate key heroes in that window, and in crucial moments, that can spell the difference between winning and losing.

Cycle Between Primary and Secondary

Your secondary ability, Stone Haymaker (Right Click) damages all enemies in a line so position yourself in fights where you can possibly hit another enemy in the backlines such as healers.

Charge Enemy Healers

The Thing's Shift ability is Yancy Street Charge which launches enemies upwards and disables any mobility ability of the last enemy hit so use the charge against groups of enemies to disrupt their formation and close in to an enemy target at the final second to set them up for an elimination. Just make sure that you're in range of your own healers.

Use Ultimate Ability Against Backlines

The most important use of this ability is to disrupt healers. If you have a chance or in a position to use this ability against healers- do it. If they are stunned, they can't heal and it also setups your team to finish them off quickly. Once the healers are done for, your team will have a much higher chance of finishing off the entire enemy team.
