The Templar Knight series of items can be exchanged from the early game. These items are useful in the early game, but become difficult to use from the mid-game onwards. To use Celestial Shards efficiently, it is not recommended to exchange for these.
Absolutely secure the White Cat-Ear Hood
Once the White Cat-Ear Hood is unlocked, be sure to secure it. It's a powerful accessory that grants the Quick Act skill, PP+1, and Action Speed +10. Its performance is a cut above the rest, so make it a top priority to obtain.
How to Earn Celestial Shards
Pick Up in the Field
This is the basic way to obtain Celestial Shards. You may be able to obtain them from white shining spots on the field, so be sure to collect them when you find them.
Obtain Through Mining
In early game mining spots, you'll get about 1 Celestial Shard for every 3-4 attempts, so the priority for using them is low. In Albion, which is unlocked in the mid-game onwards, they are relatively easier to obtain, so make use of it after progressing through the story.
Obtain by Refusing to Recruit Certain Characters
You can obtain Celestial Shards by choosing not to recruit certain characters. This is an option if you really want to get Celestial Shards. If you obtain Celestial Shards, the character will not join you so choose carefully.
Gain 15 by Executing Mandrin
After clearing "The Winged Knight", if you choose "Execute him" in the choice regarding Mandrin's fate, you will receive 15 Celestial Shards. In this case, Mandrin will never join your party.
Gain 30 by Leaving Monica Behind
After clearing "What Must Be Protected", if you choose "I entrust this place to you" when joins, you will receive 30 Celestial Shards. In this case, Monica will never join your party.
What are Celestial Shards?
Can Be Exchanged for Items at the Church
After clearing the quest "The Winged Knight," which occurs in Thraze Village visited early in the game, speaking to in the church will trigger the field quest "An Angel's Request." From then on, you can exchange Celestial Shards for items at any church.
Using Celestial Shards Increases the Lineup
The lineup of exchangeable items increases based on the number of Celestial Shards exchanged for items. Simply collecting them does not increase the lineup, so be careful.
Ochlys Joins After Exchanging 30 Shards
Consuming 30 Celestial Shards completes the quest "An Angel's Request," and will join your army. Ochlys is a rare flying unit for an early-game character, doesn't require class change, and starts with 2 AP and PP.
Exchange Locations Are Displayed on the Map
Visited churches will be displayed on the world map with a pink wing icon. You can travel to them via shortcut, so make good use of this feature.
