  • Item Usage Limits Are Added
  • ZENOIRA: No Redeploy After Unit Wipe
  • ZENOIRA: Difficulty Fixed Mid-Game

Enemy Stats Differ

Unicorn Overlord Casual vs Expert Enemy Stat Comparison

Enemy stats change according to the difficulty level, as shown in the image. "Action Speed" and "Accuracy" do not change; stats are simply enhanced, so the unique characteristics of each class do not become meaningless.

How Brave Accumulates Differs

Difference in Brave Accumulation between Casual and Expert in Unicorn Overlord

Brave becomes harder to accumulate as the difficulty increases. When Brave is limited, the number of skill uses and deployable units are restricted. Some stages are difficult to clear without certain skills, so it's necessary to determine the right timing for their use.

Character Stamina Amounts Differ

Difference in Character Stamina between Casual and Expert in Unicorn Overlord

When the difficulty is "CASUAL," stamina is set to twice the normal amount (upper limit of 9). From NORMAL onwards, stamina amount depends on the leader, so it's necessary to carefully decide which units will fight which enemies and plan your maneuvers.

Item Usage Limits Are Added

Item Usage Limit in Unicorn Overlord Expert Mode
EXPERTUp to 10 times per stage
ZENOIRAUp to 5 times per stage

For "EXPERT" difficulty and above, there is a limit on the number of times items can be used per stage. It becomes difficult to clear stages by using a large number of recovery items, so it's necessary to determine the right timing for item use.

ZENOIRA: No Redeploy After Unit Wipe

On "ZENOIRA" difficulty, units that are wiped out enter a "Defeated" state instead of "Forced Retreat." The "Defeated" state persists even after clearing the stage, and "Cornu Ash of Light" is required for redeployment, making it a difficulty level where mistakes are generally not forgiven.

Cornu Ash of Light is ZENOIRA's Cornu Holy Ash

On ZENOIRA difficulty, you obtain Cornu Ash of Light instead of Cornu Holy Ash. Cornu Ash of Light, like Cornu Holy Ash, can be obtained by investigating ruins or exchanging Heavenly Shards.

Cornu Holy AshCornu Holy AshHoly ashes that allow recovery from defeat.
Using it directly restores 2 Brave.
Cornu Ash of LightCornu Ash of LightShining ashes that can bring back allies who have left the battle line.

ZENOIRA: Difficulty Fixed Mid-Game

Only on "ZENOIRA" difficulty, you cannot change the difficulty level mid-game. For other difficulty levels, it can be changed anytime while on the field, so be aware of this.

Choose "CASUAL" to Enjoy the Story

Recommended if you want to enjoy the story of Unicorn Overlord or if you are playing an SLG for the first time. Increased stamina makes it easier to act, and it's possible to clear stages without much strategic thinking. You can enjoy both the story and the simulation aspects.

"NORMAL" is the Standard Difficulty

Recommended if you want to enjoy the core gameplay of Unicorn Overlord. "NORMAL" lacks the "stamina is doubled" assistance found in "CASUAL," but it's a difficulty level where you can win battles even if not always in optimal condition, allowing you to experience the fun of strategizing.

"TACTICAL" is for Those Skilled in SLGs

Recommended for those skilled in SLGs or experienced players. In "TACTICAL," enemies are stronger, and it's a difficult level that requires consideration of class matchups and skill activation timing. You can experience the inherent difficulty of SLGs and the sense of accomplishment upon victory, so try it when you get used to the game.

"EXPERT" Is the Hardest Mode for First Play

Recommended for advanced SLG players or those aiming for high rankings in online battles. It's a difficulty level that cannot be cleared without strategizing by considering all elements such as class matchups, gimmicks, and items. You constantly need to form optimal units, so try it if you want to enjoy the highest difficulty.

"ZENOIRA" Is the Hardest Difficulty for Replays

Recommended for those who want to play at a higher difficulty than "EXPERT." It's added after clearing the game and is a difficulty level explicitly stated to have no guarantee of being clearable. You must create the best unit formations while also considering random elements, so try it if you want to enjoy the most difficult and authentic strategic battles.
