Choose A Starter

After the initial cutscene, make your way over to the Professor's house. Here you'll be given a choice of 3 Tems to start out with. Their types are Crystal, Melee, & Mental, and they form a perfect circle of weakness/strengths. All of these types are excellent, so pick whichever one you prefer.
Houchic Is Recommended

Although you can pick any of the 3 and have success with them, we recommend choosing Houchic first. The Mental type is very strong & is only resisted by one singular type (Crystal).

Your first battle will be vs. Max's Oree, which is a digital type Temtem. This is a new type which is strong against Mental, Digital, and Melee types. This seems to be a fight that you are meant to lose, so don't even worry about it. In all likelihood you will be 1 or 2 shot and the game will proceed as normal! However, it's important to keep in mind the strengths/weaknesses of these new types.

Catch Everything You Can
At this point, it's worth trying to catch every Tem you can to immediately fill your team up. Bosses in this game will have 5-6 Tems each, so it's important to fill out your team fast. We definitely recommend keeping either Swali or Kaku on your team, as they evolve into Nature/Wind types, which have useful resistances.
Get The Temessence Vial At Brical De Mar

When you arrive at Brical de Mar, you will be greeted by Sophia, who will give you a tour of the city. The most important thing she mentions is about the Temessence Vial. Return to the store immediately after to get it. You will need to have caught at least one Temtem from the Prasine Coast to get this item!
Temessence Vial Explained

This is perhaps the most important item in the entire game, so utilizing it effectively is crucial. It will heal up your entire team fully, but has only one charge, which can be refilled at any heal station. To use it effectively, use it at the last possible moment, so you can reduce how much backtracking you do!

Catch A Ganki Immediately
Ganki is one of the few Electric types you'll have access to early game, so you really should catch one right away. They will come in handy vs. Wind and Water types, which are common everywhere! Make sure to catch a Pigepic as well, as it is necessary for a Sidequest.
Do Sidequests In Arissola

It's worth taking the time to talk to every NPC in this town so you can get all the sidequests they offer. These will offer you useful gear and items, so make sure to at least accept them now. When you're finished with Arissola after checking out the Dojo, get ready to head north to the Gifted Bridges.

Use Smoke Bombs Liberally
This area requires a lot of running back to heal, so make sure to use smoke bombs to get back faster. Consider using scents to avoid wild encounters as well, especially in the first half of the area, as there is a lot of grass. Remember, Smoke Bombs take you back to the last Temporium you healed at!
