The basic rule of thumb in Days Gone is to always hide in bushes whenever they are available. This way you can pick your fights, lure Freakers out one by one, or avoid dangerous situations with many enemies.

Use R1 To Roll Out Of Harm

You can press R1 to roll out of harm's way, especially when a lot of human enemies are firing at you or many Freakers are attacking you. When you roll into them, they'll be momentarily stunned, allowing you to escape or fight back.

Roll Away When Enemies Dodge Your Melee Attacks

There are occasions that enemies will move away from your melee attacks and counter with an attack of their own. When they sway back, be sure to roll or dodge away to avoid getting hit by their counterattack.

Melee Attacks Can Be Used Against 1-2 Enemies

If there are only 1-2 enemies in your vicinity, you can save your bullets and use your melee weapons to attack them instead. You can hit them repeatedly and defeat them without too much delay.

When you're hidden from enemies, you're able to do stealth kills on them. Walk up behind them and press the △ button to do a stealth kill. This is effective against single targets but may not be useful when facing many foes.

  • 1. Locate enemy location with binoculars
  • 2. Mark the enemy location
  • 3. Get near enemy location by crouching in bushes
