Points Of No Return In Days Gone
Moving Story Forward Is Permanent
In Days Gone, going through story progression is permanent. You won't be able to go back to certain parts of the game unless you start a completely new game due to the lack of a New Game+ option.
No Multiple Choices To Affect Story
It has been confirmed that Days Gone has removed the option of choices & decisions to make that will affect the outcome of the story. This will make it linear and hard to miss anything as you go through the game.
Clear Zombie Nests To Unlock Fast Travel Points
When you clear zombie nests in the map, you'll be able to unlock them as fast travel points. This also removes zombie spawns in that area, moving the horde into other spawn points and migrating them around the map.

There are 40 zombie hordes in Days Gone that are related to the story. When you eliminate these hordes, they are completely wiped out from the game & will not respawn. However, if you only defeat a portion of these hordes, they will grow back in number over time.
Mini Hordes Will Spawn Over Time
Though not related to the 40 story-related zombie hordes in Days Gone, these mini hordes can be grown by Freakers you encounter in-game. 100-200 zombies can still be chasing after you in the map even if they're not part of the 40 main hordes.
Replayable Content
No New Game Plus
It has been confirmed that Days Gone will not have replayable content via a New Game Plus option. Players are encouraged to complete all missions & side quests to gain 100% completion & unlock the true ending.
Game Difficulty Cannot Be Changed Mid Game
Game difficulty cannot be changed mid game, and will need a seperate new save file when you wish to change them. This will also be applicable for the upcoming Survival Difficulty to be introduced in the upcoming DLC.
