Armor & Clothing- Basics

Outfits and Armor in Fallout 76 allow you to add some protection for your character when out and about exploring the wastes. Here are some of the things that you should know about clothing and armor.
Three Layers
There will be three layers of clothing and armor for your character. The base layer will be for your clothing, the second layer will be for your armor, and the third, will be for outfits.
Clothing

This layer covers your basic clothes. These include hats, eye wear, head wear, and general clothes of your character. Examples of these are your Vault 76 Jumpsuits, and the Party Hat that you get at the start of the game.
Armor

Armor will be the layer that will reduce damage and protect you from the dangers of the wastes. These pieces are worn over your clothing to pad yourself with protection!
Outfits

Outfits go over the armor layer, and are generally cosmetic parts to style your character with. However, there are some outfits that can provide you with bonuses, so be on the lookout for those!
Armor Conditions Degrade
Keep an eye on the condition of your armor while out exploring West Virginia. Once the condition of a certain armor piece reaches 0, it will break. However, you can still repair these pieces at different workbenches around the map.
