How to Farm
Unlock Farm Plot & Farming Bundle
All you need is the Farm Plot to start farming crops, but unlocking the Farming Bundle will give you the Farmer Station and Seed Silo. This will allow your followers to work on the farm for you, although you will still need to harvest them yourself.
You can invest more Devotion in the Divine Inspiration tree for farming related buildings to produce food resources, but the Farming Bundle is all you really need in the early game. So we recommend prioritizing other buildings once you unlock the Farming Bundle.

Best Farm Buildings
The most important building to unlock would be Farmer Station II. The Farmer Station and Seed Silo only automates seeding and watering, but upgrading the Farmer Station will let your followers harvest them as well.
Other Recommended Buildings
Another building you'll want is the Fertiliser Silo which allows your followers to use the fertiliser. Once you have enough resources, you can also build a Scarecrow and Harvest Totem to make things more efficient. The other buildings cost a lot to build and are not necessary unless you like to have a very large farm.
Farming Rituals & Traits
Farm Related Perks
Doctrines | Ritual/Trait | Effect |
---|---|---|
Sustenance | Ritual of the Harvest | Perform a Ritual at your Temple that causes all seeds to be immediately ready for harvest. |
Afterlife | Return to the Earth | Unlocks the "Natural Burial" building. The corpses of dead Followers may return to the earth by becoming fertiliser. |
Sustenance
You can unlock Ritual of the Harvest in the Sustenance III Doctrine, but in general we recommend choosing the Ocean's Bounty instead since it gives you access to a lot more rare fish which is hard to get otherwise.
Afterlife
Return to the Earth can be unlocked in the Afterlife IV Doctrine. This will save a lot of space in your cult if you have many followers, especially if you plan to play the game for a while. Grieve the Fallen only gives you Faith, which you can get through other methods, so we recommend getting Return to the Earth.
