Multiplayer Mode - How To Play Co-Op

Multiplayer Guide for Cult of the Lamb (CotL). See how to play with friends, online or local co-op modes and Steam Remote Play.

Is Multiplayer Available?

Local Co-Op Mode

You can play Cult of the Lamb in multiplayer mode with a friend by using the local Co-Op mode which was added in the latest update.

How To Play Co-Op with Friends

Add Another Player

Open the menu and choose "Add Co-Op Player". This will spawn a character an additional player can control in the game. To stop Co-Op mode, simply open the menu again and choose “Remove Co-Op Player”.

2 Players Only

Take note that the local co-op mode only allows up to two players to team up in their cult-building adventure.

How to Play Multiplayer Online

Steam Remote Play

Using Steam’s Remote Play allows you to play multiplayer online. This allows you to enjoy the game with friends, even if you’re not in the same location. It’s a fantastic way to share the fun of cult-building and exploration, aside from local co-op.

Other Notes

Use a Controller

By default, Remote Play won't work if both players are using a Mouse and Keyboard. It is best if one player uses a controller.

Language Issues

There has been reports that multiplayer does not work well on certain languages. If you find any issues playing multiplayer, we recommend changing the language to English and try again.

Local Co-Op Rewards

Unlock 5 Tarot Cards

Tarot	Effects
The Comrades	When fighting close together, deals 2x weapon damage.
The Rivals	When fighting far apart, deal 2x weapon damage.
Bonds of Battle	Both players are connected by a beam that damages enemies on touch.
The Synchronous	Deal critical hits when both players attack at the same time.
Flint and Steel	Rolling through once another has a 20% chance to cause an explosion.

You can unlock these Tarot Cards just by trying out the Local Co-op mode for the first time as a reward to enhance your teamwork, whether you are charging into battle together or attacking from afar.

You Can Also Get New Relics

Relic	Effects
Cross Eye of the Crow	Spawns an eye that travels between both players, dealing big damage to enemies on contact. Fragile
Kudaai's Lost Tooth	Swap your Weapon and Curse with the other player. Fragile
The Clasped Hands	Both players heal half a heart. Charge Speed: Slow
Ashes of the Mercurial Mun	Create an explosive ring around both players. Charge Speed: Slow
Wishbone of the Marbais	Take damage, other player will receive 10 seconds of invincibility. Charge Speed: Slow

Each relic offers unique abilities that can turn the tide in your favor. These unique items may improve your gameplay as a duo, allowing you to support each other.

Complete Quests Together

Working together make it easier to complete tasks more quickly. This includes gathering resources, building structures, and fighting enemies, which can speed up your overall progress in the game.
