Spider Skull guide for Cult of the Lamb (CotL). Includes how to get, Body Pit & Webber unlock, Penitence Mode, rewards, and more!
What to do with Spider Skull
Unlock Body Pit
The Body Pit can be unlocked almost immediately as it is under Divine Inspiration Tier 1. It only costs 10 Gold and 5 Lumber to build, making it one of the cheapest builds. You can quickly build it any time, but you'll always want one open in case any followers die.
Bury the Spider Skull
You can randomly find the Spider Skull by catching spiders in your cult at nighttime. When it appears, all you need to do is to pick it up and bury it in a Body Pit. It won't disappear even if you ignore it so you can just leave it there if you want.

Unlock New Game Mode
Burying the Spider Skull will unlock "Penitence Mode" which is a new game mode where the lamb needs to sleep and eat to survive. Failure to do so will result in death and permanent save file deletion.
Unlocks Webber
Align with the Penitence Mode, and you will also gain a new spider-like follower "Webber" to join your cult. You should try to find the Spider Skull if you want to gain this follower.

Challenging Survival Mode
In Penitence Mode, the Lamb must eat and sleep to survive in the game. It also has a Game Over feature once you have starved or didn't get enough sleep 3 times.
