Be Cognizant Of Type

In Temtem, the range of types you have access to on the first island is rather limited. As such, it is really easy to have overlapping types. This is fine, but you want to prioritize having a wide range of moves available. Getting super-effective hits is particularly important here, so make sure you are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each Temtem.

Build A Team Around Your Starter

It is ideal to adjust your team around your starter Tem, but in reality since Crystal and Melee Tems are so rare early on, you should be fine either way. If you chose Smazee, however, it might be better not to take Skail & choose something else instead.

Prioritize Deniz + Omninesia

The Tems chosen here are well suited for taking on the first two islands of the game, Deniz & Omninesia, which feature primarily Water, Wind, Nature, & Fire Tems. By having strong Water and Electric Tems, and some access to Toxic moves, you should be able to progress smoothly.
