Basic Shooting Controls
What is Shooting?

In Knives Out, during combat, you can attack by tapping the shoot buttons on both sides of the screen. The attack method varies depending on the equipped weapon. You can move or reduce the shoot buttons in the settings.
What is Aiming (Targeting)?

Aiming (targeting) is manipulating your viewpoint so that the enemy's silhouette and the crosshairs overlap. Fired bullets travel towards the crosshairs (reticle) in the center of your view, so your aiming skill directly affects bullet accuracy!
[Important]What is Recoil Control?
▲Full-auto firing with M4A1 while controlling recoil (recoil suppression)
Recoil control is an advanced technique to suppress recoil by shooting in the opposite direction of the gun's recoil. It's an essential technique for hip firing, which has significant recoil. By mastering hip firing, you can defeat enemies more quickly!
Let's Shoot from the Appropriate Position
Combat Distances Each Firing Mode Excels At
Full-Auto Hip Fire | Single-Shot Hip Fire | ADS | |
---|---|---|---|
Close Range | ◯ | △ | ✕ |
Mid Range | △ | ◯ | △ |
Long Range | ✕ | ✕ | ◯ |
◯: Suitable △: Viable ✕: Difficult to handle
There are three types of firing: full-auto hip fire, single-shot hip fire, and ADS, each excelling at different combat distances. When you spot an enemy, switch to the appropriate firing mode based on the distance. This is an important preparatory action before a firefight.
What is ADS (Scope Firing)?

ADS (Aim Down Sight) is firing while looking through a sight or scope. Accuracy is high, and it's easier to aim because you can see the target larger. On the other hand, there are disadvantages such as reduced aiming speed, movement speed, and a narrower field of view, but ADS is generally recommended.
Weapons Generally Better with ADS
- Assault Rifles
- Submachine Guns
- Sniper Rifles
What is Hip Firing?

This is a firing method without looking through a sight or scope. Bullet spread increases, and accuracy decreases, but when enemies are nearby, it may be better to spray bullets while firing. Shotguns are generally used with hip fire.
Weapons Generally Better with Hip Firing
- Assault Rifles (ADS for mid-range and beyond)
- Shotguns
- Handguns
Tips and Points for Winning Gunfights
What is a Gunfight?
▲An example of a gunfight. Tactics are crucial!
A gunfight is a battle that begins when both parties' positions are known, and it can occur at all ranges, from close to long distance. To win a gunfight, good aim is important, but winning the tactical engagement with the enemy is paramount.
Carry Weapons with High Damage Rate!

If your skill level is evenly matched with your opponent, the difference in weapon performance can decide the outcome. Weapons with high single-shot damage or high damage rate (burst damage) are harder to lose with in a gunfight.
Aim for Headshots as Much as Possible
The skill to aim for vulnerable body parts will make you less likely to lose gunfights. The head takes about 2.5 times more damage than the torso. In contrast, the feet take very little damage.
Utilize Lean Shooting

In gunfight tactics, whether you can utilize obstacles becomes crucial. It's recommended to occasionally peek out and move to exploit enemy openings. To further leverage obstacles in combat, lean shooting, which allows you to hide half your body, is optimal.
Utilize Throwables

If tactics reach a stalemate and the enemy takes a waiting stance behind an obstacle, throw a grenade. If the enemy doesn't notice the grenade, you can eliminate them. Even if they notice, you can force them out from behind the obstacle!
