Introducing Basic Shooting Operations

What is Shooting?

Fire Button

In Knives Out, during combat, you can attack by tapping the fire buttons on both sides of the screen. The attack method varies depending on the equipped weapon. You can move or reduce the fire buttons in the settings.

What is Aiming (Targeting)?

Aim

Aiming (targeting) is operating the viewpoint so that the enemy silhouette and the crosshair overlap. Fired bullets fly towards the crosshair (reticle) in the center of the viewpoint, so aiming skill directly affects bullet accuracy.

What is ADS (Scope Operation)?

ADS

ADS (Aim Down Sight) is shooting while looking through a sight or scope. It has high accuracy and makes it easier to aim at enemies. Equipping a high-magnification scope and using ADS allows you to see distant enemies in detail.

[Important] What is Recoil Control?

▲Full-auto firing with M4A1 while controlling recoil.

Recoil control is an advanced technique to suppress recoil by firing in the opposite direction of the gun's recoil. It's an essential technique for hip firing, which has significant recoil. Mastering hip firing allows you to defeat enemies more quickly!

How to Aim (Targeting)

Aiming Procedure (Normal)

How to Aim (Normal)
1. Set the Crosshair (Reticle)
2. Move the Viewpoint Right to Find Enemies
3. Aim Until Enemy Silhouette Overlap Crosshair
4. Shoot When Silhouette Meets Crosshair

1. Set the Crosshair (Reticle)

Crosshair

The crosshair (reticle) is a line that indicates the center of your viewpoint. Fired bullets fly towards the crosshair. Since the crosshair (reticle) deeply affects accuracy, set it to one that is easy to see!

2. Move the Viewpoint Right to Find Enemies

Viewpoint Movement

Flicking the right screen allows you to operate the viewpoint. The viewpoint moves in the same direction as the flick. Operate the viewpoint skillfully to find enemies. Be careful not to accidentally press various buttons!

3. Aim Until Enemy Silhouette Overlap Crosshair

Aiming

Once you find an enemy in step 2., operate the viewpoint so that the enemy silhouette and crosshair overlap. Fired bullets fly to the center of the crosshair, so if the crosshair and enemy silhouette are even slightly misaligned, the bullets will not hit.

4. Shoot When Silhouette Meets Crosshair

Fire Button

Once you have firmly overlapped the enemy silhouette and crosshair in step 3., tap the fire buttons on both sides of the screen to shoot. Normally, it's recommended to tap the fire button on the right edge while moving by flicking the left screen!

How to Aim (ADS)

Aiming Procedure (ADS)

How to Aim (ADS)
1. Equip a Sight or Scope to Your Weapon
2. Use Right Screen to Look for Enemies
3. Aim Until Enemy Silhouette Overlap Crosshair
4. Aim With the Right Mark When Enemy Is Nearby
5. Use ADS to Align the Crosshair More Accurately
6. Tap Fire When Aim Is on Target

*This shooting method is just a basic one, so find an aiming (targeting) method that suits you!

1. Equip a Scope

Pick up a weapon with a sight attached or a scope found on the battlefield. To perform ADS (scope operation), a sight or scope must be equipped. Be aware of weapons that cannot equip sights or scopes!

2. Use Right Screen to Look for Enemies

3. Aim Until Enemy Silhouette Overlap Crosshair

Once you find an enemy in step 2., operate the viewpoint so that the enemy silhouette and crosshair overlap. Fired bullets fly to the center of the crosshair, so if the crosshair and enemy silhouette are even slightly misaligned, the bullets will not hit.

4. Aim With the Right Mark When Enemy Is Nearby

Aiming Mark

Tapping the aiming mark on the right edge allows you to look through the equipped sight or scope. Since ADS (scope operation) has a slower viewpoint movement speed than normal view, align the crosshair in step 3. before tapping the aiming mark.

5. Use ADS to Align the Crosshair More Accurately

ADS

ADS (scope operation) has slower viewpoint movement speed than normal view, allowing for high-precision aiming. You can even land headshots on distant enemies. Make fine adjustments to firmly align the enemy silhouette and crosshair.

6. Tap Fire When Aim Is on Target

Shooting

Once you have firmly overlapped the enemy silhouette and crosshair in step 5., tap the fire buttons on both sides of the screen to shoot. During ADS, it's recommended to tap the fire button on the left edge while aiming precisely with the right screen.

Aiming (Targeting) Tips

Change Sensitivity Settings to Your Liking

Sensitivity Settings

What's important for aiming (viewpoint movement) is whether the viewpoint movement speed suits you. By changing the sensitivity settings, you can achieve an aiming speed that fits you. If you are confident in your precise aiming, try increasing the sensitivity to also seek speed!

Utilize Cover

Cover

Reducing the body area exposed to fire increases the probability of winning a shootout. The image above shows a scene where a rock is used for cover while shooting at an opponent. The opponent is fully exposed, while you are only exposing your right half, so the probability of winning the shootout is high.
