How to Burst Fire
What is Burst Fire?
Burst fire is a shooting method where you press and release the fire button at regular intervals. It is also sometimes called tap shooting. Conversely, holding down the fire button to shoot is called full-auto. In battle, you will switch between burst fire and full-auto depending on the situation.
Pros and Cons of Burst Fire
▲Utilizes the fact that the reticle returns to its original position when the fire button is released.
Pros | Can control recoil |
---|---|
Cons | High operational difficulty |
The purpose of burst fire is to control the recoil when firing a gun. By momentarily releasing your finger from the fire button at any given time, there is the benefit of resetting recoil and reducing aim deviation. Although the operational difficulty is high, it is an essential technique for winning firefights.
Which is Stronger: Burst Fire or Full-Auto?

It is mainly used differently depending on the distance. At close range, all bullets can hit even with full-auto, but at medium to long range, it is difficult to shoot accurately without burst fire. The farther the distance, the stronger burst fire is. In addition, it may be necessary to switch depending on the weapon used.
Technique for Assault Rifles
▲Submachine guns are stable even in full-auto.
Burst fire is mainly a technique for assault rifles. In the case of submachine guns, the recoil is small even without burst fire, so the disadvantage of reducing the rate of fire outweighs the benefit.
Types of Burst Fire
Single Shot
Switch the firing mode to "Single" to attack. In single mode, full-auto only fires one shot, so burst fire is essential for continuous firing. The easiest type of burst fire. You can immediately feel the benefit of burst fire, which is to control recoil and stabilize aim.
Two-Round / Three-Round Burst
Similar to single shot, burst fire is inevitably used for continuous attacks. Since it fires 2 or 3 shots per tap, it has slightly more recoil than single shot. Accordingly, the rate of fire is higher than single shot.
Full-Auto Mode + Two Shots at a Time
A shooting method that cannot achieve the stability of single shot but can attack with a rate of fire comparable to full-auto. Low recoil + high rate of fire is the ideal form that combines the best of burst fire and full-auto. If you don't burst fire with a certain rhythm, a phenomenon called jamming may occur, and it may feel somewhat difficult to shoot.
Full-Auto Mode + Arbitrary Timing
Attack while intentionally resetting recoil by burst firing at arbitrary timings. The timing for burst fire is generally free, around 1 to 10 shots. Since recoil can be easily reset, this is a recommended shooting method for beginners.
