Mapping Enemy Positions
Understand the Map Information First

In Knives Out, sounds like gunshots, footsteps, and vehicles are displayed on the minimap. This is an important source of information when finding enemies (scouting). Finding enemies first gives you an advantage, so use all available information.

Icons Can Also Be Displayed on the Screen

Sound icons can also be displayed on the main screen by . This is recommended as it eliminates the need to constantly check the map.
Use Experience to Judge Distance
Sound icons on the map provide information about sounds within a certain distance. However, they don't show the exact distance to the source of the sound. Listen to the volume of sounds (gunshots, footsteps) to predict the enemy's position.
Locating Enemies Using Sound Cues
Always Play While Listening to Sounds
Sound is extremely important in games like FPS and TPS. It's no exaggeration to say that information from your eyes and ears directly impacts your win rate. Earphones are recommended over speakers as they allow you to hear sounds more accurately.
Measure Distance by Sound Volume
Gunshots, footsteps, and vehicle sounds are louder when closer and quieter when farther away. This is very important for gauging the distance to an opponent (enemy). First, try to judge the general location of enemies by the volume of the sound.
Predict Position Using Sound Cues
For gunshots, footsteps, and vehicle sounds, not only the volume but also the direction from which they are heard changes depending on the location. For example, if you hear a sound from the right earphone (speaker), it means the source of the sound (enemy) is to your right.
Advanced: Determine Gun Type
The sound of gunfire differs depending on the type of weapon. By learning the gunshots of each weapon type, you can understand the situation, such as what weapon the enemy has or if you hear another different gunshot, there is a high possibility that there are two or more enemies.
Look Around for Enemies
Move While Making Full Use of Free Look

In Knives Out, you can move while changing the camera direction. By default, pressing the eye mark in the bottom left of the map allows you to look around while moving. Don't just run; move while searching for enemies.
Finding Enemies in Normal View
Ideally, you should be able to spot enemies even at long distances in normal view. Instead of focusing on one point, try to look at the entire screen and search for anything out of place. Trees and buildings don't move, so get into the habit of identifying anything that moves even slightly as an enemy.
Scouting Through a Scope

Using high-magnification scopes like 4x or 8x allows for long-range scouting. However, be aware that your field of view will become narrower. The ideal flow is to look for anything unusual in normal view and then confirm with a scope.
Don't Miss Muzzle Flash (Luminescence)

Knives Out reproduces muzzle flash (the light emitted when firing). Muzzle flash is also an important source of information for finding enemies. However, be aware that the flash from guns equipped with flash hiders or suppressors is not visible.
Finding Enemy Position from Hit Indicators

In Knives Out, when you are hit, you can see the direction you were shot from. A mark appears around your character, so you can tell you were shot from that direction. Instantly turn towards the direction you were shot from and scout.
Vehicle Sounds Also Appear on Screen!

The location of vehicle sounds can be identified by the vehicle mark displayed in the center of the screen. This makes it easier to understand the vehicle's position without looking at the minimap. React immediately when the mark appears.
Be Careful if Doors are Open

When gathering supplies, you will need to explore buildings, but be careful if you find a building with an open door. It's a sign that an enemy has entered the building, so move carefully while clearing the area.
Monitor Enemies with the Kill Log
Understanding the Kill Log is Important in the Late Game
Kills and deaths are displayed as a kill log in the upper left of the screen each time they occur. Understanding the kill log is especially important in the late game. By cross-referencing the kill log information with actual gunshots, you can identify the surviving players and their weapons.
How to Read the Kill Log

The image above is an actual kill log. The content is "A defeated B with a weapon." You can see that "A defeated B with an S-ACR." If A, who has an S-ACR, survives, and you heard the gunshot, you can even determine A's location.
Be Aware When Fewer Than 10 People Remain
Until you get used to it, when the number of remaining players in the late game drops to about 10, make it a habit to check the kill log. Of course, there are many situations where it's useful even with more players remaining, so try to get used to it quickly.
How to Estimate Enemy Numbers
Knockdown and Elimination Difference
In Knives Out, there are knockdowns and elimination. If knocked down, you can rejoin the battle if a teammate revives you. If you die, your play in that match ends, and you switch to spectating your teammates (if solo, the match ends).
Knockdowns and Deaths Reveal Info
In Knives Out, the mechanics of knockdowns and eliminations are influenced by whether the downed player has teammates still alive. If a player is knocked down and has teammates who can revive them, they remain in a downed state. However, if they are the last member of their team, they are eliminated immediately without the opportunity to be revived.
Provides Information on Enemy Positions
For example, if you defeat one enemy in a duo match and they are knocked down, it means their teammate is still somewhere. Conversely, if they die, there are no more enemies from the same team. This is crucial information in Squad or Quintet modes.
Settings for Easier Scouting
Set the Graphic Theme to Vivid

Setting the graphic theme to Vivid makes enemies slightly easier to see compared to other themes. If you struggle with scouting or feel you're not good at it, give it a try.
