This article introduces hip fire in Knives Out (Mobile Battle Royale). It covers how to perform hip fire, recommended settings and sensitivity, crosshairs, and recoil control.

What is Hip Fire?
A Powerful Shooting Technique!

Shooting without looking through sights or scopes is called "hip fire" or "hip firing". Since it eliminates the need to aim with a scope, you can quickly eliminate enemies. This requires aiming skill to accurately target without a magnified scope.
For Close Range: "Full-Auto Hip Fire"
Full-auto hip fire means hip firing in full-auto mode. Full-auto fire has significant upward recoil, so recoil control (recoil suppression) is essential for accurate shooting. The method differs depending on the weapon, so be sure to understand the recoil of your favorite weapons.
For Medium to Long Range: "Single-Shot Hip Fire"

Single-shot tap hip fire means hip firing by tapping in single-shot mode. Single-shot tap firing allows for accurate shooting while suppressing recoil. With precise aiming skills, you can even eliminate distant enemies.
Caution in Close-Quarters Combat!
In single-shot mode, you'll be at a significant disadvantage in terms of rate of fire compared to full-auto at close range. Be careful not to forget to switch from single-shot to full-auto fire.
How to Perform Hip Fire
Steps for Hip Fire |
---|
1. Switch Firing Mode |
2. Control Viewpoint |
3. Align Enemy Silhouette and Crosshair |
4. Tap the Fire Button to Shoot |
1. Switch Firing Mode

The box next to the weapon icon at the bottom of the screen indicates the currently set firing mode. You can switch between "Full-Auto/Single-Shot" firing modes by tapping the box.
2. Control Viewpoint

You can control the viewpoint by flicking the right side of the screen. The viewpoint moves in the same direction as the flick. Skillfully control your viewpoint to find enemies. Be careful not to accidentally press various buttons!
3. Align Enemy Silhouette and Crosshair

Once you find an enemy in step 2., adjust your viewpoint so the enemy silhouette and crosshair overlap. Bullets fly to the center of the crosshair, so if the crosshair and enemy silhouette are even slightly misaligned, the bullets will not hit.
4. Tap the Fire Button to Shoot

After carefully aligning the enemy silhouette and crosshair in step 3., tap the fire button on either side of the screen to shoot. Normally, it's recommended to move by flicking the left screen while tapping the fire button on the right edge to shoot!
[Important] What is Recoil Control?
▲Full-auto firing with M4A1 while controlling recoil (recoil suppression)
Recoil control is a technique to suppress recoil by firing in the opposite direction of the gun's recoil. It's an essential technique for full-auto hip fire, which has significant recoil. The recoil direction differs for each weapon. Check the weapon details!
Recommended Settings
Set the Crosshair (Reticle)

The crosshair (reticle) is a line that indicates the center of your viewpoint. The crosshair (reticle) significantly affects accuracy, so choose one that is easy to see. You can change it from the Scope Settings in Combat Settings.
Which Crosshair Should You Use?

Crosshairs (reticles) each have different characteristics, so much so that you'll need to get used to a new one when you switch. Understand the characteristics of each crosshair and choose one that is easy for you to shoot with.
This is the Recommended Crosshair!

The recommended crosshair is the "◯" (circle) on the far right of the "Crosshair Shape" option in settings. Unlike the left or middle crosshairs, it's designed to be less obstructive to your view and is intuitively easy to understand. You can shoot while clearly tracking the enemy silhouette.
Reason 1. "Cross-shaped crosshairs change size"

The left and right cross-shaped crosshairs change size when you move. This is a feature indicating that bullets are more likely to spread while moving, but it can be distracting when trying to track an enemy silhouette. The ◯ (circle) crosshair does not change size when moving.
Reason 2. "Not Intuitively Clear"

The left and right cross-shaped crosshairs do not have lines that clearly indicate the bullet spread area, making them difficult to understand and aim with. The bullet spread area for the ◯ (circle) crosshair is clearly indicated as the inside of the circle, making it easy to understand and aim with.
Set a Sensitivity That Suits You!

Increasing (or decreasing) sensitivity makes viewpoint control faster (or slower). Hip fire is a technique where your kill rate is greatly affected by your aiming skill, so set a sensitivity that suits you and hone your aiming abilities.
