Upgrades Starts From The Left

Upgrade Path
- Start from the left corner
- Can unlock adjacent squares
- Use Upgrade Points on unlocked squares to gain effect
The light blue on the left is the starting point for upgrading Hero Gear. From here, you can unlock adjacent squares using Sardinium and then use Upgrade Points to get the additional effect.

Sardinium Is For Unlocking Upgrades

The Sardinium is used to unlock the locked frame on Hero Gear screen. This will allow you to open up adjacent upgrades starting from the left side.
Upgrade Points Are For Activating Effects

Upgrade Points are consumed to activate the effect unlocked by the Sardinium. There are many ways to get this if you are playing Hero Mode.

This Hero Gear upgrade path can allow you to defeat the last boss without making too many detours while taking the necessary upgrades. The main focus of this build is to strengthen your shooter and minimizing the consumption of Sardinium which is difficult to obtain.
Focus Hero Shooter Upgrade Early
The Hero Mode Bosses in Site 3 are much stronger than those in Site 1 and Site 2. With an unupgraded gear, it will be difficult to fight because of the slow fire rate. Focus on upgrading this before you challenge the boss fight at site 2.
High Priority Upgrades
Better Hero Shot | |
---|---|
![]() | ・Hero Shooter's rate of fire is increased. ・Can be upgraded twice. |
Ink-Tank Capacity Up | |
![]() | ・Hero Shooter's rate of fire is increased. ・Can be upgraded twice. |
Suit Recovery Up | |
![]() | ・Increases the recovery of broken suits. ・Can be upgraded twice. |
The upgrades that should be prioritized on Hero Gear should be those that can improve your weapon and HP. The Hero Shooter will be used until the end and the difference in performance between the unupgraded version and the upgraded version is very drastic. Also, since the Hero Shooter makes you vulnerable to enemy attacks, the Suit Recovery upgrade should also be a priority.
Upgrades That Are Needed Later
Smallfry HP Up / Smallfry Ink Saver | |
---|---|
![]() | Increases the durability |
![]() | Reduces the ink consumed |
In the final stages of Hero Mode, there is a stage where you will need Smallfry Upgrades. If they are not upgraded, you will be killed immediately which will make the progress very difficult. It is highly recommended that you upgrade these while upgrading your shooter.
Smallfry Upgrades That Are Not Required
![]() | 【Smallfry Quickrespawn】 Shortens the respawn time of Smallfry |
![]() | 【Smallfry Damage Up】 Smallfry deals more damage against enemies |
Although it can strengthen Smallfry, it requires a lot of Sardinium to upgrade these. If you have extra Sardinium, it can help you get stronger but it is not required.
Upgrade Reset After Clearing
Materials Can Be Left Unused

After clearing the game, a Hero Gear reset option is added from the Gear Upgrade screen. This option allows you to start over from scratch while keeping the Sardinium and Upgrade Points that you have used. Although it only has a little effect, it makes it possible to challenge all stages with unupgraded gear.
