Character Origin & Backstory

Ken first debuted in 1987 in the arcade version of Street Fighter. He showed up as the P2 character. He was exactly the same as Ryu besides his looks.

Ken is friends with Ryu and also trained with him. He considers Ryu his rival. He is the son of the well-known Masters family.

3 Unlock Methods Available

There are in total, 3 ways of unlocking / adding new character to your roster in SSBU. By completing either one of these condition will unlock these Fighter to be used in Smash Mode and Classic Mode.

KEN - Fighter Tips & Featured Move Sets

KEN - Featured Video

Longer Range with Backward Throw

Unlike Ryu's Somersault Throw, Ken rolls backward once and then throws his opponent with Hell Wheel. Ken gains the distance he moved during the throw, making it easy to follow up quickly.

Shinryuken - Unique Final Smash

If your opponent is far away, your Final Smash becomes Shinryuken. It does good damage and can hit opponents in front of you and around you.

KEN - All Move Sets

Shippu Jinraikyaku / Shinryuken - Final Smash

MARIO Eyecatch
Shippu Jinraikyaku / Shinryuken
Ken twirls and rises up with a Shinryuken, dealing damage to foes and tossing them into the air. If a foe is close to Ken, the attack becomes a Shippu Jinraikyaku, instead unleashing a flurry of kicks.

Fires an energy wave from his palms. Holding down the button increases its speed and power.
Side Super

Whirls with powerful kicks that move him forward. Hits opponents multiple times unlike Ryu's.
Up Super
(↑ + B)
20.0%[Shoryuken]
Ascends with a flaming uppercut, which has less launch power than Ryu's, but more attack power.
Down Super
(↓ + B)
20.4%[Focus Attack]
Focuses, allowing himself to soak up an attack. If charged to the max the enemy's shield won't help them.
