Ryu is the main character of Capcom's Street Fighter. He made his first appearance in 1987 alongside Ken Masters.

3 Unlock Methods Available

There are in total, 3 ways of unlocking / adding new character to your roster in SSBU. By completing either one of these condition will unlock these Fighter to be used in Smash Mode and Classic Mode.

RYU - Fighter Tips & Featured Move Sets

Air Attack Cancel

Air attacks can be canceled immediately after they hit by pressing the special-move button just like some other attacks can. You can create powerful combos like Grab + Up Throw + Up Air +Shoryuken.

Up Throw Can Be Multi Targeted

This move kicks a grabbed opponent straight upward. As Ryu brings his leg back down, he'll hit anyone unlucky enough to be in the way.

Forward Air Attack for Shield Breaker

Hitting an enemy with Ryu's foot has higher launch power, while his upper leg is perfect for shield breaking. It's a good move for combos.

RYU - All Move Sets

Shin Shoryuken / Shinku Hadoken - Final Smash

MARIO Eyecatch
Shin Shoryuken / Shinku Hadoken
Ryu unleashes a Shinku Hadoken that penetrates through the stage, allowing it to hit multiple opponents and deal serious damage. If Ryu is close to an enemy, he uses a Shin Shoryuken uppecut attack instead.

Whirls with powerful kicks that move him forward for as long as the button is held.

18.0%[Shoryuken]
Jumps with a powerful uppercut, which is strongest at the start. Power and speed increases if held.
Down Super
(↓ + B)
14.4 ~ 20.0%[Focus Attack]
Focuses, allowing himself to soak up an attack. The longer the charge, the longer the enemy is stunned.
