Sonic's first appearance was a cameo in the 1991 racing game Rad Mobile. You can see him dangling near the top of the windshield.

There are in total, 3 ways of unlocking / adding new character to your roster in SSBU. By completing either one of these condition will unlock these Fighter to be used in Smash Mode and Classic Mode.

Quick Chain Combo Starter - Down Air Attack

If you jump, Spring Jump, and then use an attack like this one in quick succession, it will end right before you land, which means no landing delay!

Super Sonic
Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to turn into Super Sonic and then dashes left and right, crossing through the stage at supersonic speed. You can adjust the angle at which Sonic moves through the air slightly up or down.

Creates a spring and leaps up high. The spring sticks around if used on the ground.

Dashes forward rapidly. Can be powered up by repeatedly pressing the special-move button.
