How to Increase Inventory
Buy Storage Deck Upgrades or SDUs
Storage Deck Upgrades or SDUs will allow you to carry more ammo and items with you at times. These can be bought from Marcus in Sanctuary. They're a bit pricey since each level increases in price.

The Backpack SDU will increase the number of items you can carry around with you at all times. You'll get 40 inventory space for your backpack at max.
Increase Bank SDU
The Bank is a shared storage across all characters. At its max level, you can have as much as 50 stored in your bag at a time.
Tips to Store More Items
Create New Characters as Storage Accounts
Create a new character and progress up until you get access to Sanctuary III. By then, you can transfer other items to that characters inventory space to clear up more space in your bank.

To increase your storage characters' backpack space, sell old high level equipment on that account for easy money. Since weapon prices are based on their rarity and level, it will still be a lot of money per gun.
