You can start a Coin Rush by spending Rubies. Its a very efficient way to rack up coins, so do so when you can spare the rubies.

Gather From Courses

Pick Up Coins From Items Box Or The Map

Pick Up Coins From Items Box Or The Map

You can get coins from courses by picking them up or from Item Box (You'll get 2 from boxes). Focus on picking up coins on the first lap and then jockey for 1st place on the last lap.

Attack Opponents For Them To Drop Coins

Attack Opponents For Them To Drop Coins

Strike your opponents with Green or Red Shells for them to drop coins. As you'll be targeted more often (and lose coins) as you get ahead, it make sense to stock up on more coins in anticipation or focus on defense.

Keep Items At The Rear To Block Attacks

By keeping an item such as banana or shell on your rear, it'll protect you from some opponents attacks like red shell. keep an item on your rear to guard your coins.

The most accessible Koopa Troopa Beach course is the 1st course of the 4th Cup. Coins here are placed in very accessible areas and don't have too much gimmicks, so is recommended for coin farming.
