Manual Drift allows you to hold a drift for an extended period of time, allowing you to charge up and do Ultra Mini-Turbos, boosting speed and netting you more points after a long drift.

Considering both methods' strengths, Simple Drift is the way to go if you want more control and are still not used to the long drifts in Mario Kart Tour. Manual Drift can be rewarding but very punishing if used incorrectly as it can cause your kart to spin uncontrollably.
