Watch Out For Enemy Items

Slipstreaming requires you to trail behind your opponent, leaving you open to their attacks. Be wary and watch if they have any items they can throw at you before you attempt a slipstream!

Use Only In Long Stretches

As it is highly unlikely to be able to perform slipstreams during turns, use them as opportunities to get close to your opponents instead. Slipstreams are easier and more rewarding in straight courses, so time them well!

Don't Force It

Doing a slipstream can be hard so don't force it if the opportunity does not present itself. Try to take advantage of pulling off good turns, using Rocket Starts and drifts, and using items to gain the lead instead.

Trail An Opponent For A Boost

If an opponent is barring your path, you can align yourself directly behind your opponent for a small duration of time to perform a Slipstream. Slipstream provides a momentary boost to your speed, enabling you to quickly overtake your opponent.
