Chainsaw - Basic Stats

Use To Refill Ammo

The Chainsaw can cut through Fodder and Heavy demons without trouble. Killing demons with the Chainsaw forces them to drop ammo pickups. Use this to restock much needed ammo during intense battles.

Heavy Demons Require 3 Charges

Heavy-class demons such as the Cacodemon and the Hell Knight require 3 charges to Chainsaw. It's not recommended to use the chainsaw against them as it is inefficient. Also note that Super Heavy demons and Bosses are immune to the Chainsaw.

Use Against Shield Soldiers

Shield Soldiers are more durable fodder demons that can withstand damage due to their shield. While you can use the Plasma Rifle to destroy their shield, you can also opt to use the Chainsaw to bypass it and slice through them for ammo.

Uses Limited Charges

The Chainsaw consumes charges per kill. To refill charges, you will need to pick up fuel cans. Note that you can only hold 3 charges at a time.

Automatically Generates 1 Charge

If out of charges, the Chainsaw will slowly recharge a single pip when exhausted. This means that you can use the Chainsaw as much as you want to keep you well-stocked on ammo.

Combo With Meat Hook

The Super Shotgun's Meat Hook can be used to pull yourself towards any demon. You can use it to quickly get in close to a fodder demon to Chainsaw them for ammo.

No Mods

The Chainsaw does not have any mods or upgrades.

How to Unlock & Get Chainsaw

Unlocked During Mission 1

You will be able to unlock the Chainsaw while playing the Hell on Earth mission. Once you reach a certain point in the story, the Chainsaw will unlock and can be used for the remainder of the game!
