Pain Elemental are weak versus Ballista and can be brought down in 2~3 shots, Ballista's fast impact time makes it effective against the big fat flying target.

Follow Up Ballista With Glory Kill

After being shot enough times with a Ballista, the Pain Elemental will fall down and be susceptible for a Glory Kill. Follow up your shots to end it fast.

Will Sometimes Dodge Your Shots

Pain Elemental is clever enough to dodge your shots if it sees you pointing a weapon at it. Fire when he attacks, is looking somewhere or follow up your shots to increase your chance of hitting it.

Latch With Meat Hook To Get Close

Super Shotgun's Meat Hook can let you close the distance fast if you get a latch. You can even use this to reposition yourself using the flying Pain Elemental!

This Is A Cacodemon

Pain Elemental shares much similarity with a classic enemy: the Cacodemon, though Pain Elemental is grayer and has more tricks up his sleeves.

Pain Elemental - Attack Pattern & Features

Lost Soul Attack

Lost Soul Attack

Throws a fast homing Lost Soul at you dealing moderate damage. Beware of its throwing animation and dash to the sides fast, or find cover.

Fire Balls

Fire Balls

Low damage but annoying volley of fire ball. More for distraction purposes but can cause moderate damage if all fire ball connects.

Lost Soul Companion

Lost Soul Companion

Releases Lost Souls that will hover near Pain Elemental, then come charging at the player. Kill Pain Elemental fast or be ready to dodge when the skulls start facing at you.

Playing As Pain Elemental

Summon Souls To Fire For Damage

Summon Souls To Fire For Damage

When playing as a Pain Elemental, you can summon 6 Lost Souls to hover around you and be used as ammunition. Throw them at the Slayer for higher damage, but making it hitting it will require skills.

 Can Fire All Skulls For Burst Damage

The summoned Lost Souls can be lobbed one at a time or all at once. Try firing all at once when the slayer's movement is restricted like when going up stairs.

Harass & Report Player Position From Air

Harass & Report Player Position From Air

When playing as Pain Elemental, it is important to use your flying characteristics to report the position of the slayer to your team, while harassing it with ranged attacks. Don't be overly aggressive as to draw attention before your teammates get into position.

Don't Play Too Aggressively

Pain Elemental is a big target but lacks the HP & damage like the other Monsters. Its main goal is to harass and recon so play a bit defensively and be prepared to run away when focused on.
