Your Odradek (the star like thing on your left) is your character's all - purpose sensor & scanner that doubles as a Cargo Scanner and others. It will provide valuable data on your surroundings and provide key info.

Every piece of cargo in the game has a tag attached, which gives off info to your Odradek on its status and intended destinations. Decide if you want to retrieve it and where to deliver it based on the info presented.

Scans BT With BB Connected

When you have your BB (Bridge Baby) connected, odradek will point to the nearest BT (Beached Things) within range. Also, by using a scan, BTs will be rendered a bit more visible, helping you evade them better.

How To Use Odradek Scanner

Scan By Pressing R1

Use your Odradek to emit a scan of nearby terrain and objects by pressing R1 of your controller. It will give off terrain markers or info on your surroundings, letting you determine how difficult the terrain are.

Scan For BTs if you have BB equipped, making them more apparent so you can plan your escape.

One of the most important function of the Odradek terrain scanner, which shows the difficulty of surrounding terrains based on icons. The brighter the icon color, the greater the risks.

Terrain Marker And Meanings

safe terrain iconSafe TerrainNo Penalties.
steep terrain iconSteep TerrainSteep terrain that's hard to get a reliable foothold. Drains Endurance Gauge.
dangerous treacherous terrain iconDangerous, Treacherous TerrainTerrain that poses significant risk to movement. May cause topple or falling down.
Impassable terrain iconImpassable TerrainTerrain too steep or dangerous to be traversed.
shallow water terrain iconWater: ShallowShallow water that's easier to traverse, but will still drain Endurance Gauge.
deep water terrain iconWater: DeepDeep water that rapidly drains Endurance Gauge/ Swept away if gauge reaches zero.
very deep water terrain iconWater: Very DeepImmediately swept away, losing cargo and even your life.
tall grass iconTall GrassHide from sight by staying in tall grass. Crouching makes you even harder to spot.
