Is There Multiplayer?
Multiplayer is Available... Sort of

Death Stranding features a Strand System which allows you to connect with other players. However, players will not be able to directly interact with each other. Instead you will be shaping & molding the world around you to help other Sams!
Assist Other Players

The game's multiplayer aspect will not pit you against other players in fights. Instead, you will assist and help out other Sams on their journey by leaving behind items, signs, and more.
Acquire Likes From Other Players

Players who find or use your items within their game can give you likes. These likes have no confirmed use or purpose as of the moment.

Keep in mind that you will only be able to access multiplayer once you have connected to that region's Chiral Network.

Leave Behind Items

You will be able to leave behind items for other Sams to find. Try to leave behind useful items such as weapons and ammos just before a boss fight, or even vehicles and ladders to help other players traverse dangerous terrain.
Entrust Cargo to Your Anonymous Allies

You can also choose to help out those in need by entrusting items and resources to other players at the delivery terminal. This Entrusting will work both ways; you can also receive help from your anonymous allies when in need!
Leave Signs For Other Players

You can also leave behind signs to mark out points of interests to other players. If you find a hot spring or, dangerous area, don't forget to leave a sign to notify other players what's just up ahead!

If you come up against a tough encounter, you can opt to ask help from other players. Once you call for help, players outlined in white will appear and throw items and resources at you. However, they will not be able to fight against enemies.
See Traces of Other Players

As you walk around the world of Death Stranding, you will see footprints of other players. You will be able to see the path where they traveled, and opt to follow them or not.
Players Create Paths to Use
The more players follow the same path, the more the ground will be worn. This will create dirt roads that will act as a guide for other players to get to their destination.
